Prem Gill has been appointed as the new CEO of Creative BC.  She takes over from former president and CEO Richard Brownsey, who retired on June 30, 2015, and officially starts her new role at the end of September.
 
Creative BC is a government-funded, not-for-profit agency that supports British Columbia’s creative sector and administers funding and tax credit programs for the film and television industry.

Today, the BC government announced that the Digital Animation or Visual Effects (DAVE) tax credit bonus would be expanded to include eligible post-production film activities.  The expanded credit will be available for productions where principal photography begins on or after March 1, 2015.

B.C. Budget Proposes an Improvement to the Distant Location Bonus
Qualifying productions in the “Capital Regional District” - which includes the city of Victoria - are currently eligible for BC’s 6 % regional bonus tax credit.

The Budget proposes that for productions commencing principal photography on or after February 19, 2014, the Capital Regional District also be included as part of the 6 % distant location bonus tax credit.
